Giant Hall Effect in Composites

چکیده
This paper deals with the homogenization of the Hall effect in three-dimensional composites. We prove that the homogenized Hall coefficients are bounded from above by means of prescribed bounds on the local conductivity and the local Hall coefficient. Then, three microstructures of different nature are presented in order to show that arbitrarily large effective Hall coefficients may be obtained in dimension three if the previous prescribed bounds do not hold.

The Origin of the Giant Hall Effect in Metal-Insulator Composites
Near the metal-insulator transition, the Hall coefficient R of metal-insulator composites (M-I composite) can be up to 104 times larger than that in the pure metal called Giant Hall effect. Applying the physical model for alloys with phase separation developed in [1] [2], we conclude that the Giant Hall effect is caused by an electron transfer away from the metallic phase to the insulating phas...
متن کاملGiant Hall effect in superparamagnetic granular films
A comprehensive review of the giant Hall effect (GHE) is presented, with emphasis on novel experimental data obtained in Ni–SiO2 and Co–SiO2 films prepared by co-sputtering. GHE is observed close to and on both sides of the metal–insulator transition. From the point of view of microscopic conduction mechanisms, this means a crossover from metallic conductivity with weak localization to tunnelin...
متن کاملAn application of the general theory of exact relations to fiber-reinforced conducting composites with Hall effect
In this paper we present the exhaustive and non-redundant list of all microstructureindependent relations for effective conductivity of fiber-reinforced composites with Hall effect. Our results are independent of the number of constituents and the degree of their anisotropy. We use this to apply our results to both polycrystals and two-phase composites. Our tool is the general theory of exact r...
متن کاملM-Theory Brane as Giant Graviton and the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect
A small number of M-theory branes as giant gravitons in the M-theory sector of LLM geometry is studied as a probe. The abelian way shows that the low energy effective action for M-theory brane is exactly the 2d electron subject to a vertical magnetic field. We also briefly discuss the microscopic description of M2-brane giant graviton in this geometry, in the language of a combination of D0-bra...
متن کاملExact Relations for Effective Conductivity of Fiber-Reinforced Conducting Composites with the Hall Effect via a General Theory
In this paper we apply the general theory of exact relations to derive all microstructureindependent relations for effective conductivity of fiber-reinforced composites with Hall effect. We also derive all possible links between effective conductivities of two composites that have the same microstructure but are built using different materials. Our results hold for any number of constituents wi...
